What a deeply thoughtful response. You’re right — I do discuss my age in a way that makes it seem like it should have kept me from caring. And I kind of do feel that way…that we’ve gotten this far, that we know how awful people can be, so why did I actually care? I’ll have to think about that more. I guess knowing how awful people can be doesn’t lessen the hurt, and in a way I think as we age our hearts break open wider and wider.
