I think people are conflating the issue of whether he is a hero - which of course he isn’t - with whether he is guilty. Different questions.

The judge in this case has made that ruling about the term “victims” before. And as every criminal judge knows, if he is vigilant about protecting the rights of the accused, he has less of a chance to prevail on appeal if he’s convicted.
